The Institute of Agrobiotechnology (IdAB-CSIC) is the only Research Institute of the Spanish National Research Council in the region of Navarre, and shares ownership with the Government of Navarre. It is located in Mutilva, in the Arrosadia Campus of Public University of Navarre.

The IdAB-CSIC houses approximately 50 people organized into the areas of Administration and Project Management, Research Support Service, and two Scientific Departments with a range of multidisciplinary research groups led by 11 principal investigators. Scientific staff in the research groups includes both PhD students and Doctors, with a good equilibrium between training and senior scientists.

The research projects being developed at the IdAB-CSIC are devoted to generate cutting-edge knowledge, and to develop next-generation biotechnological tools to meet a whole range of current and future social challenges. These projects are conceived and undertaken to achieve integrative solutions framed within the “One Health” concept, to reduce the impact of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance in human, animal and environmental health, to increase food production and quality based on sustainable agriculture by also mitigating the deleterious effects of climate change, and to promote healthy living habits directed to maintain human microbiota homeostasis aligned with our immune system. The relevance and quality of our investigations are reflected in a wide number of active projects funded by regional, national and European calls, resulting in high-impact scientific production and in the development of new technologies applicable to different productive sectors.
