New technologies for a new skin

Description

Ojer Pharma is a pharmaceutical company, spin-off of the University of Navarra, founded in 2005 with the aim of identifying therapeutic gaps in the dermatological market and developing innovative dermatological drugs and products for both human and veterinary use that meet the needs of patients all around the world.

Ojer Pharma directs all its efforts in the research and development of products that address skin diseases from a global perspective, which means, combined treatment of causes and symptoms. In this sense, Ojer Pharma has developed an innovative vehiculization technology in the form of transparent bioadhesive gels. After its application, the gel generates a film over the skin acting as a matrix for the sustained release of dermatological active ingredients (lipophilic and hydrophilic).

The development of this technology is mainly based on the concept of “patient-centred approach”, with the main objective of improving the safety and/or efficacy profiles of well-known drugs and improving patient adherence.

This technology has been successfully applied to three of the five best-selling dermatological molecules in the world, resulting in different medicines with significant competitive advantages, and it has been adequately protected through international patents.

In addition, this innovative formulation has been used for the development of a wide range of products such as medical devices and cosmetics to treat minor skin conditions such as small wounds, scars, itching or redness both at human and veterinary level. This vehiculization technology allows to obtain very important advantages compared to the reference products since, given its composition, it allows to maintain an optimal moisture in the skin, helping its regeneration while it alleviates the symptoms associated to the pathology.

At Ojer Pharma, the innovation management faces the pharmaceutical development as a whole, considering all aspects from the technological surveillance to the authorization of the product on the market for its subsequent commercialisation, thus offering unique products at a global level.
