The partnership agreement, signed in Brussels, “is a great opportunity to position Navarra as a region active in the integration of emerging technologies, digitalization and personalized medicine in Europe,“ said Laura Corcuera, managing director of the NHC.
The Navarra Health Cluster (NHC), a network of companies and institutions from Navarra’s healthcare sector, became a member of MEDIC-NEST, the European Meta-Cluster in Precision Medicine, officially presented in Brussels on January 24, 2024. The signing of the partnership and accession agreement, signed in the Belgian capital, followed a conference at which the results of the MEDIC-NEST and BRIGHT European projects were presented by their respective founding teams.
In that sense, the MEDIC-NEST Meta-Cluster is a voluntary, open and agile alliance of European clusters and business support organizations that believe in the role of cross-border and cross-sector collaboration between European consortia. Through this affiliation agreement, Navarra Health Cluster is committed to actively contribute to the implementation of MEDIC-NEST’s activities and strategic objectives to support the internationalization, growth and global competitiveness of the European Precision Medicine ecosystem.
“We are very proud to be part of this pioneering initiative that aims to facilitate an active pan-European ecosystem by connecting regional precision medicine ecosystems. It is also an opportunity to position Navarra as a region active in the integration of emerging technologies, digitalization and personalized medicine in Europe,” said Laura Corcuera, managing director of Navarra Health Cluster.
In fact, Navarre is a pioneer at the national level in the approval of a Comprehensive Strategy for Personalized Medicine. Its objective is to position the Autonomous Community of Navarre as a benchmark in genomic medicine applied to personalized prevention, diagnosis and treatment. In this way, through excellence in research, the aim is to provide the citizens of Navarre with benefits such as a more efficient and sustainable health system, economic growth and, above all, the generation of quality employment.
In addition to the NHC, the Cluster-ER Health of the Emilia-Romagna region (Italy), the Slovenian Innovation Hub, the Klaster LifeScience Krakow (Poland), the Health Cluster Portugal, the Health & Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria, the AI Cluster Bulgaria, the Basque Health Cluster, the FundeSalud foundation (Extremadura) and the HEALTH RTD CLUSTER (Serbia).

MEDIC-NEST (Precision MEDIcine Clusters integrating Digital Technologies for New EcoSystems in HealthCare) is a European project that has developed activities to strengthen excellence in cluster management and facilitate strategic partnership and exchange between specialized actors and ecosystems across Europe in the field of precision medicine, between February 1, 2022 and January 31, 2024. The IMAGO-MOL Cluster (Romania) coordinates the MEDIC NEST project, in consortium with Medvia (Belgium), Hellenic BioCluster (Greece) and BIOTECYL Health Cluster of Castilla y León (Spain).
