Navarra Institute for Health Research (IdiSNA), has been accredited by the Carlos III Institute of Health (ISCIII) as a Health Research Institute since January 24, 2019. Recently, in January 2024 it has renewed its accreditation as an IIS for another five years.

Unlike accredited institutes in other autonomous communities, IdiSNA has some unique characteristics. On the one hand, it covers the vast majority of biosanitary researchers in Navarre and, therefore, has a very relevant integrating character to achieve joint efforts with common objectives. On the other hand, it includes all the public and private health, research and university institutions in Navarre. It is also part of the SINAI and the Navarra Health Cluster, collaborative structures that allow scientific results to be brought together with the industrial fabric of Navarra, to improve their exploitation and commercialization.

IdiSNA is a multidisciplinary and translational biomedical research space, which has as its core the University Hospital of Navarra (HUN) and is oriented to basic, clinical, epidemiological and health services research. This Institute is the result of a partnership between research groups from the University Hospital of Navarra (HUN), the University Clinic of Navarre (CUN), Public University of Navarre (UPNA), University of Navarre (UN), Navarrabiomed (NB), the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA), the Institute of Public and Labor Health (ISPLN) and Primary Care of the Navarra Health Service (AP-SNS).

The purpose of IdiSNA is to contribute towards improving the quality of research, and as a consequence, towards the quality of the medical assistance and biomedical teaching in the Foral Community of Navarre, as well as to optimize the existing human and material resources. To this end, IdiSNA will serve to foster synergies between clinical and basic groups starting from the existing translational group models.
