On May 30, Navarra Health Cluster organized a workshop on tax deductions for R&D&I in Navarra, with the Navarre Employment Serviceof which it is a collaborating partner, in collaboration with the European Business and Innovation Center of Navarra (CEIN) and Innovation Factorythe Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Navarre. The objective was to present the specific ways that exist in Navarre to monetize the effort made by companies in the health sector in the field of R&D and innovation.
A topic of great interest among the companies of our ecosystem because we have the participation of 17 people, belonging to 8 partner entities and 4 external to the NHC.
The tax regulations of the Autonomous Community of Navarre offer important incentives for R&D and innovation activities within a framework of certainty in the recognition and qualification of these activities.

The session, which was led by Jorge Santos, managing partner of the Tax Department of Idalia Estudio Jurídico, allowed to expose and analyze the different formulas of monetization of the R&D deduction previously generated by an entity, monetization that can be produced by any of the following three alternatives:
- Use of the deduction by the entity generating the deduction by applying it to its corporate income tax liability.
- Use of the deduction by the entity generating the deduction by requesting a refund of the deduction generated despite the achievement of Negative Taxable Income (Tax Rebate).
- Monetization of the deduction generated by transferring it to an investor who provides monetary resources to the entity generating the deduction (Tax Credit).
