Navarra Health Cluster organizes with the Hermanos Álvarez Quirós Foundation the premiere in Navarra on June 20 of the documentary “El Camino Inverso” about the scientific career of Dr. Mariano Barbacid.
Barbacid is a leading figure in the field of molecular oncology, known for his significant contributions to the understanding of cancer. Barbacid and his team achieved a revolutionary breakthrough by isolating the first human oncogene, fundamental to establish the molecular basis of cancer and opened a new field of research, called Molecular Oncology, which has had a profound impact on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases worldwide. In addition to his scientific achievements, he has played a crucial role in the management and promotion of research, being one of those responsible for the creation of the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO).
The meeting, which will be held at the Pamplona Planetarium and is supported by the Government of Navarra, will provide an opportunity to discuss the need to strengthen ties between basic research and clinical application, reflect on the role of the business community in this mission and delve into the challenges and opportunities at the state and Navarra levels.
After the screening of the documentary, produced by Fundación Hermanos Álvarez Quirós and K2000 Mediapro Studio, we will hold a round table discussion on the subject “How will we be cured tomorrow? Research and innovation at the service of the health of the futurethat will bring together Dr. Barbacid and representatives of the health ecosystem in Navarra:
